About Us

The Systemic Family Therapy Association – Kenya (SFTAK) is a professional membership organization for marriage and family therapy practitioners and students. 

SFTAK serves members practicing in all areas of mental health, including academia, community mental health centers, private practice, managed care and social service organizations.

SFTAK strives to maintain the professional standards of MFT by championing the unique systemic framework in clinical practices, innovation and research. 

Through the development and improvement of marital and family therapy techniques, SFTAK is committed to improving the wellbeing of both individuals and families. SFTAK is dedicated to educating the public about MFTs and the services they offer. 

We strive to make sure that MFTs are a crucial component of the developing healthcare system through our advocacy efforts.

Our Mission

The Mission of SFTAK is to regulate and promote best practices in the field of marriage and family therapy to achieve the following:-

Students feel supported in all spheres of this diverse field, including governmental recognition of the program, and provides reassurance of continuity in the profession.

MFT(Marriage and Family Therapy) practitioners continue to evolve through continuing education (CE) via conferences, training and research.
The community is reassured by seeking out an MFT who is a member of SFTAK and has successfully met the education criteria and is guided by the professions legal and ethical guidelines.

Patricia Arisi is a Master of Arts graduate in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Family Violence and Trauma. She runs her private practice Better Hearts Therapy


Alice Kamundi, MFT

Alice is a Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Maend Psychological Consultancy and Psychometric services. Her educational and professional background has afforded her the experience of working with a vast array of clientele..

Daisy Jepchirchir Kosgey, MFT


Daisy Jepchirchir Kosgey is the founder of Holistic Relational Therapy, a mental health consultancy that sees individuals, couples and families in clinical settings


Nazik Jeizan

Student Representative

Nazik Jeizan is a second-year student pursuing a Master in Marriage and Family Therapy. Her research interest is on the influence of parental attachment, the quality of romantic relationships among young adults and the role of mindfulness.


Aashni Shah, MFT

President Elect

Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Aashni made the decision to return to Kenya after obtaining her undergraduate degree to actively contribute to the mental health landscape in her homeland

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Dr. Karume has dedicated her work to training the next systemic leaders in the field. Through program development, systemic therapy, medical family therapy, and research
