President Elect
Driven by a profound sense of purpose, Aashni made the decision to return to Kenya after obtaining her undergraduate degree to actively contribute to the mental health landscape in her homeland. This decision was fueled by a heartfelt desire to address the unique challenges and opportunities in the Kenyan context, with a particular focus on family systems and the power of mindfulness in healing and resilience building.
Throughout her academic journey, Aashni has demonstrated empathy and an innate ability to forge deep connections with clients, peers, and mentors alike. These qualities, coupled with a commitment to ongoing professional development, have allowed her to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of evidence-based therapeutic interventions. With an unwavering focus on promoting diversity and cultural sensitivity within therapeutic practices, Aashni seeks to create an environment that is welcoming and relevant to all Kenyans, regardless of background or circumstances.
Aashni holds a Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy with a concentration in Trauma and having gained a certification in Mindfulness. She is poised to spearhead the advancement of therapeutic practices and initiatives in Kenya. This achievement follows the successful completion of her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Psychology at Cardiff University, where Aashni developed a foundational understanding of human behavior and psychological dynamics.
Through strategic partnerships with other mental health organizations and stakeholders, she intends to elevate the visibility of the association and champion policies that facilitate access to quality mental health services across the nation. Drawing inspiration from both local and international mental health pioneers, Aashni envisions a united and thriving community where individuals and families are empowered to overcome challenges and embrace a brighter future.
As the President-Elect, she is determined to harness the collective wisdom and expertise of the Association to foster a culture of inclusivity, innovation, and collaboration. She also remains steadfast in her dedication to lead by example, inspire transformational change, and create a lasting legacy in the field of mental health for the betterment of Kenyan society.
