Dr. Michelle Karume

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Dr. Karume has dedicated her work to training the next systemic leaders in the field. Through program development, systemic therapy, medical family therapy, and research, it has become very clear that her expertise and passion serve as the catalyst for growing MFT in the continent.

Dr. Karume serves as the advisor to the Systematic Family Therapy Association Kenya (SFTAK). She ensures the association’s dedication to the field as well as its fidelity to its constitution and that of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy as well as the local Kenya Psychologists board. With a belief that the family unit is the training ground for life and that healthy relationships; professional or otherwise are the cornerstone for success, her interests therein are; Marriage and Family Therapy, Medical Family Therapy, Collaborative care and Program Development.

Her education background includes a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology from the University of Houston-Main, A Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy with a concentration in Medical Family Therapy from Loma Linda University
